Lawsikia J. Hodges is the Deputy General Counsel of the Government Operations Department in the City of Jacksonville's Office of General Counsel. She is a Florida Bar Board Certified City, County and Local Government Lawyer, an AV Preeminent® Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Rated™ attorney and was recognized by her peers as a top government attorney in Florida Trend’s Legal Elite. She is an experienced transactional attorney who provides government operations and transactional counsel to the mayor’s office, 19 member Jacksonville City Council, executive branch department directors and chiefs, constitutional officers, independent authorities, and City boards and commissions.
Prior to joining the Office of General Counsel in 2007, Lawsikia was a business law associate at Foley & Lardner LLP in its Jacksonville office. She earned her law degree with honors from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2002. She received her undergraduate degree with honors from the University of North Florida in 1998, where she majored in Political Science. She is a member of several legal associations, including the Florida Bar Association, the Jacksonville Bar Association, the D.W. Perkins Bar Association, the Florida Association of County Attorneys, the Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association, and the Catholic Lawyers Guild. Lawsikia is a Leadership Jacksonville graduate, and she currently serves on the nonprofit boards of the Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville, Inc. (MOCA), WJCT Inc., and Young Catholic Professionals, Inc. (Jacksonville Chapter). She is an active member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Orange Park where she serves as a lector, adorer, eucharistic minister of Holy Communion, and chair of the Justice and Peace Ministry.
