Fr. Darren Balkey is a parochial vicar at St. Matthew Catholic Church and a Lieutenant (Junior
Grade) in the Chaplain Candidate Program of the U.S. Navy. A native of State College, PA, he
graduated from Belmont Abbey College (Belmont, NC) in 2014. Following graduation, Father
worked in behavioral health and emergency services before attending the Pontifical College
Josephinum (Columbus, OH) and Mt. Saint Mary’s Seminary of the West (Cincinnati, OH); he
was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Charlotte in 2022. In his free time, Fr. Balkey enjoys
exploring things outdoors and sewing things indoors.
Dr. Matthew Zban is a physician and former Chief Medical Officer with Mid-Atlantic Emergency
Medical Associates where he provides emergency medical care to patients in local hospitals. He
previously chaired the Department of Emergency Medicine at Presbyterian Hospital and
teaches part time as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at UNC School of Medicine. Dr. Zban also
facilitates the Physician Bioethics Group at St. Gabriel Catholic Church where he is a parishioner
and volunteer. In his free time, Dr. Zban enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family.
Diana Ingallinera Faillace is the Deputy General Counsel, Director at Cerberus Capital Management, L.P., a New York based private investment fund. She specializes in regulatory matters, including the Corporate Transparency Act compliance, and Legal Operations Entity Management. Mrs. Faillace is a member of St. Philip Neri Church, and a member of Legatus. She enjoys spending time with her husband and friends, cooking, and traveling.
Justin Smith is a Business & Technology Strategy Consultant at NTT DATA Services where his
experience spans M&A, risk and compliance, and go-to-market strategy development in
banking technology. He currently serves as the Director of Outreach for Young Catholic
Professionals of Charlotte and is passionate about helping people consider the question, “How
does your faith impact your work?” Justin moved to Charlotte in 2021 after graduating from
UNC Chapel Hill and enjoys playing piano and rallying on the pickleball court.
