Rev. Christopher J. Trenta, a native of Akron, Ohio, was ordained for service to the Diocese of Cleveland on May 16, 2009 after graduating from St. Mary Seminary & Graduate School of Theology with a M.Div and M.A. degree in Theology. His first assignment was St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Wooster, Ohio before Bishop Richard Lennon sent him for graduate studies in Sacred Liturgy at the Pontifical Liturgical Institute at the Ateno Sant’Anselmo (Atheneum Saint Anselm) in Rome, Italy. He earned the licentiate degree in Sacred Liturgy (S.L.L.) in December 2017 and since then has been working on a doctorate in Sacred Liturgy on the contribution of 19th-Century Italian priest and philosopher Blessed Antonio Rosmini to the ongoing work of liturgical renewal. In July 2019 he returned to St. Mary Seminary & Graduate School of Theology as a faculty member in the Liturgical-Sacramental Department. Prior to discerning to enter the seminary and accept the call to priesthood, Fr. Trenta worked for Charles Schwab Retirement Plan Services as a Sr. Client Services Representative where he had earned professional designations as a Qualified 401(k) and Qualified Pension Administrator. He is a 1997 Alumnus of the University of Notre Dame and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. He was a member of the Notre Dame Glee Club and active in Student Government. Growing up he was a parishioner at Holy Family, Stow and St. Sebastian, Akron. After college he joined St. Hilary, Fairlawn where he was active in the parish choir, as a cantor, and as a team member for high school youth ministry. He has been serving at Mass since he was in 4th grade.
