Young adults in their 20s and 30s are invited to join the Portland Chapter of Young Catholic Professionals for our Saint Joseph Saturday: Lenten Retreat at Mount Angel Abbey on Saturday, March 18. Please register no later than Sunday, March 12.


This day retreat is the perfect opportunity to help you enter more deeply into the Lenten season, reflect upon the role of faith in our work, and enjoy fellowship with other young adults.


Our speaker Father Matt Libra, pastor of St. Rose Catholic Church in Portland, will discuss becoming aware of God's call and living our vocation in the world with the examples of St. Joseph, our Blessed Mother, and St. Thomas More.


Retreat Schedule

  • 8:30 AM - Check-In & Morning Hospitality
  • 8:50 AM - Opening Prayer & Welcome
  • 9:00 AM - Talk by Fr. Matt Libra
  • 9:30 AM - Time of Reflection, Adoration, and Confession
  • 10:40 AM -  Celebration of Mass, Homily with Fr. Matt Libra
  • 12:00 PM - Noon Prayer with the Monks
  • 12:30 PM - Lunch
  • 1:15 PM - Small Group Discussion
  • 2:00 PM - Closing Announcements and Prayer
  • 2:30 PM - Optional Walking Stations of the Cross & Gathering at Benedictine Brewery 


Cost is $10 to help us cover the expense of lunch. YCP Belong members, as well as priests and religious, will receive a complimentary lunch. If cost is an issue for you, please email info@ycpportland.org.


All young adults in their 20s and 30s are invited regardless of career field - even if you don't consider yourself a "professional" or have not been to a YCP event before.

About Our Speaker

Fr. Matt Libra is the pastor of Saint Rose Catholic Church and the administrator for Saint Rose Catholic School, where he was assigned in 2013. He also serves as the Director of Respect Life Activities for the Archdiocese of Portland.


Fr. Matt was born and raised in Oregon, and worked in youth ministry before entering seminary. He has worked with the St. Vincent de Paul Society, assisted the chaplain at the US Navy base in Naples, Italy with religious education and Masses, and served as a hospital chaplain as well as for study abroad college campuses and the Missionaries of Charity. He also holds a degree through the John Paul II Institute of Marriage and Family Studies.


After his ordination to the diaconate in 2010, he was assigned to St. Paul Parish and School in Eugene, OR. Fr. Matt was ordained a priest on June 9, 2012 by Archbishop John Vlazny, and then served as parochial vicar of St. Juan Diego Parish before being assigned to St. Rose.
